Organise links, codes and sales reports for creator campaigns and avoid incomplete attribution.
Views of a creator video, website clicks and purchases are different outcomes. Before the campaign starts, decide which result will inform the decision and where its data will come from.
Make a consistent link plan
Google Analytics' URL builder guidance explains campaign parameters. For example:
https://example.com/product?utm_source=instagram&utm_medium=creator&utm_campaign=launch&utm_content=creator_a
Use a different utm_content for each creator or content version and write the campaign name consistently. Record the link, platform, publication date and related coupon in a shared sheet. Do not add a customer's name, phone number or email to the URL. Test the link on mobile before posting.
Reconcile figures before adding them
Platform clicks, website sessions and order reports do not count the same thing. A person may click on one device and buy on another; some people do not allow tracking. One order may appear in both the link and coupon reports. Write the rule for preventing double counting and the measurement period in the report.
Suppose a hypothetical campaign costs ₹10,000 and a link report associates it with ₹15,000 in sales. Dividing ₹15,000 by ₹10,000 produces a reported sales-to-spend ratio of 1.5. That is not net profit and does not prove that all sales were caused by the campaign. Profit-based ROI requires verified margin, other costs and appropriate attribution.
A simple reporting format
Show total spend, views, clicks, tracked outcomes, period, source and missing data together. Base the next decision—such as changing the brief or improving the landing page—on the available evidence. Google notes that attribution settings can affect reports.
Use the report to choose the next experiment
Alongside the numbers, write down what changed during the measurement period: for example, a price change, a delivery delay or a product being unavailable. Assign one person to reconcile link and coupon reports before presenting totals. If two creators used different landing pages or offers, describe that difference instead of treating their results as directly comparable. At the next review, choose one change to test and record the question it is meant to answer.
