Prepare a UGC agreement covering channels, duration, paid advertising and edits for product videos.
A video showing how a product is made might serve a website, social channels and paid campaign. Those destinations are not necessarily included in one commission. Before sending the product to a creator, describe both the delivery and intended uses.
Define the output
Specify video count, format, language, timing, any subtitles and revision count. If filming a workshop, say who provides access and which stages may be shown. Avoid product claims that cannot be verified.
Then prepare a usage table. “Marketing use” alone is not enough: an organic post, product page and advertisement may require different agreements.
| Item | Agree |
|---|---|
| Channels | Website, social accounts and other specific media. |
| Duration | Start date and end or renewal conditions. |
| Territory | Italy or other markets. |
| Paid promotion | Platforms, period and creator-account use if requested. |
| Editing | Cuts, subtitles, adaptations and approval. |
| Files | Final edit, any source files and secure delivery. |
Copyright treatment depends on the work and agreement. Consult Italian copyright law and seek professional contract advice if needed.
Check what appears in the video
Music, faces, works and third-party brands may need specific permissions. Identify who obtains them and the alternative if unavailable. A creator's permission for their work does not automatically replace other people's permissions.
If the creator publishes promotional content, plan a readable disclosure in the brief. AGCOM guidance explains that platform tools alone do not replace the required text disclosure in the situations it describes.
Archive the version and permission together
Keep the approved file, dates and usage terms. Before reuse in another market or after expiry, check the agreement and request an extension where needed. Do not infer unlimited duration from delivery of the file.
Frequently asked questions
Can an organic video automatically become an ad? Assess advertising use against agreed rights; describe it explicitly before production.
Are raw files always included? No. They can be agreed, protected and compensated separately.
