How to choose an influencer: from follower count to campaign fit

Compare influencers using audience fit, content quality, collaboration terms and measurement with a practical decision framework.

A large following does not by itself show that a brand will reach the right people with the right message. For a company selling home coffee equipment, a creator who explains product use clearly may be a better fit than a larger account whose audience interest is uncertain. Make the decision using the objective and evidence together.

Define success first

Is the first goal sales, explaining product use or reaching a new audience? Awareness may call for reach and views; product education may call for completion or engagement; direct response may call for trackable visits and verified conversions. These indicators are not interchangeable.

Define the intended audience's location in Türkiye, language and product-related need. Ask creators for recent platform insights, relevant work samples and the period covered. These support a decision; they do not guarantee future performance.

Build a shortlist using five criteria

CriterionQuestionEvidence
Audience fitIs the audience in the target language and market?A current aggregated audience summary shared by the creator
Topic and trustCan the creator explain the product naturally and accurately?Relevant content and audience questions
ProductionAre the format and deadline realistic?Previous work and a production schedule
Commercial termsAre usage, duration and fee clear?Written proposal and rights scope
MeasurementWhich signals and sources will be used?Campaign measurement plan

Your team can score each criterion from 1 to 5. These are internal decision aids, not platform-verified quality scores or performance forecasts. If evidence is missing, mark it “unknown” and request it rather than treating it as zero performance.

What should creators share?

A one-page media kit can present main topics, available formats, current aggregated audience information and work samples. If a brand wants advertising rights or raw files, do not assume they are included in an organic posting fee. Agree in writing on rights, duration, revisions and deliverables.

A small initial engagement with a clear scope can be more informative than a long agreement with vague terms. Decide in advance what observation would change the next decision. Avoid requesting or transferring individual followers' personal information.

Disclosures belong in the plan once a commercial relationship is established. See the Ministry of Trade's 2026 announcement and YouTube's paid promotion guidance.

Should you choose a smaller or larger account? There is no universal threshold. Compare relevant audiences, credible content, production capacity and budget within the same framework.
